TWD: Chocolate Cream Tart

The Tuesday's with Dorie crowd is on it's last leg of a chocolate triple header this week. Kim of Scrumptious Photography chose the Chocolate Cream Tart for us to enjoy.

There was talk on the TWD site that this dessert might be too much of a good thing, but I decided to make it exactly as written anyway.

I'm glad I did. I thought the chocolate tart shell and the chocolate cream filling were both very good. The tart shell was so flaky and tender, it was a perfect counterpoint to the luscious smooth filling. Not that I could eat a huge piece, but it wasn't really an option with my two 4-inch tarts.

Thanks, Kim, my family (and neighbors) really enjoyed the tart!

For the recipe, please check out of Dorie Greenspan's book "Baking, From my Home to Yours" or check out Kim's blog. OK, see you next week!

P.S. I forgot to mention that I used half bittersweet and half semi-sweet chocolate. I continue to resist being turned into a dark chocolate lover :)

I wound up making the same 4" tarts. Still, they were rich enough that H and I wound up splitting one between us for dessert. Yummy though! I don't think you can ever have too much chocolate! :)

Mmm, I'm with you: there's no such thing as too much chocolate; leave the recipe as is :) Looks delicious!! Makes me want to run into the kitchen to make some right now!

Wow - those look fantastic! I also did the 4" tarts - loved the "personal" tart size! Weren't they the best chocolate pies? :) Nicely done!

I guess we all went mini on this one... I made 4" tarts too! I haven't tasted the cream with the crust but thought the cream was divine!

I love that you made mini's out of it.

I added some hazelnut coffee creamer to mine.

Divine.

It seems like mini was the way to go to end the chocolate madness around TWD. Your tarts look beautiful and I love the way that you dolloped the cream in the middle so that the chocolate could show through.

Hummmm... this looks almost like deja-vu! LOL (I've made tartlets too, and posted a very, very similar shot! lol)

Perhaps, great minds do think alike after all!!! LOL

Lovely, Jacque... simply lovely.

on a toutes l'impression qu'on en mange moins quand on fait des tartelettes...c'est pas vrai, on en mange deux fois plus :)
c'est superbement réussi !

I made 4 inch tarts, too. Just 2 of them, mainly for damage control! I loved everything about this tart. Just yummy!
