TWD: Peanuttiest Blondies

Nicole of Bakeologie chose Peanuttiest Blondies for this week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe.

This was basically a peanut butter chocolate chip bar cookie, with a little cinnamon thrown in for good measure.

Did you every watch Sesame Street as a kid? There was the "Which One of These is Not Like the Others?" segment that I remember liking.

I was reminded of it when I tried these blondies.

Chocolate chip cookie type base?

Check.

Chocolate chips?

Check.

Peanut butter?

Check.

Cinnamon?

(* * * buzzer sound * * *)

I don't know why I added the cinnamon. I knew I wouldn't like it.

Cinnamon just doesn't GO with chocolate and peanut butter. In my humble (or not so humble) opinion.

Oh well, these would have been perfect and well worth the effort without the cinnamon. I'll definitely try them again someday without it. (Don't get me wrong, I do love cinnamon. Just not when it's not coupled with chocolate.)

Thanks to Nicole for this promising pick. Check out her blog for the recipe, or Dorie Greenspan's book "Baking, From my Home to Yours".

  1. I thought the same thing about the cinnamon! I didn't mind it, but next time, I will leave it out. They look great, though.

  2. I knew from past experience that I wouldn't like the cinnamon in these, so I left it out.
These blondies almost seem too thick. I would make them in a bigger pan so they are thinner next time. But pb/choc is always a good combo.

  3. I thought that the cinnamon would be a bit strange, and it was, but the more I ate it, the more I liked it.

  4. LOL on the cinnamon... Your blondies look great. Sesame Street wasn't a good thing at our house...when Alex was 3, always the precocious child, he would call them stupid for not knowing the answers to the questions they asked...he thought it was "REALLY DUMB, Mom." Then when they would say the letter names over and over he would shout at them, "I get it, I get it, you don't have to tell me so many times!!!" Needless to say, Sesame Street did not have a long run at our house. I should have seen signs then about Alex and paid better attention...lol.

  7. Cinnamon in those is quite interesting, isn't it? I've made them before and while I generally really love cinnamon, I didn't care for it in this recipe either. They do look great though :o)

  8. Sesame Street was one of the only shows I was allowed to watch as a kid. You've got that "one of these things is not like the other" song stuck in my head now! I would probably leave the cinnamon out of these blondies, too, but they certainly do look tasty.

  9. While I love cinnamon, I've never added it to brownies or blondies. Not sure I would add it again to these. They were ok, but I'm more of a brownie fan.
