You won't find Burnt Sugar Ice Cream on the menu at your local ice cream truck.
Nope, not there.
Too bad. This ice cream has "best seller" written all over it.
I know. It doesn't look like much. Humble. And brown. But boy, does it ever taste delish! Perfectly caramelly with just a hint of "burnt".
Burnt in a good way. Burnt with the teeniest, tiniest hint of bitter to balance the sweetness.
Thanks so much to Becky of Project Domestication. Becky picked today's Tuesday's with Dorie recipe.
OK, that's it, folks! If you'd like to try this, please check out Becky's blog or find a copy of Dorie Greenspan's book, "Baking, From my Home to Yours".
Yes, this was good wasn't it? It seems like "brown" foods are hard to photograph but taste delicious.
ReplyDeletetalking about brown foods. I've been on a tour of brown ice creams. But this by far beats the rest. sooo good.
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect. Must not be too hot there as it looks like your picture was taken outside. Or maybe you are just good and can get a good picture quickly.
ReplyDeleteLooks good. I really enjoyed this one. I wish I had some hot fudge to go on top, but then I might have done some serious damage.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos, makes it all look even more fabulous, and it was plenty fabulous as it was!
ReplyDeleteI'm totaly with you on its looks being too simple for its taste... this should have have stamp on it, either stating it's terrible (to make more for us) or to be massively manufactured! It was amazing... and yours looks like it has the perfect thinkness, firmness... the works!
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious, almost like Gelato. Yum, I will definitely have to mark this recipe in my book :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the ice cream! I bought pink dish just to photograph the brown ice cream!
ReplyDeleteit totally looks picture perfect.
ReplyDeleteSeriously great photos there. Yours looks perfect as is!
ReplyDeletewanna start a homemade ice cream truck with me? looks great!
ReplyDeleteLooks delish. I will make it soon.
ReplyDeleteYour pics look great! I agree, not the most photogenic of items, but so tasty.
ReplyDeleteI also loved this ice cream! I will make it again for sure :-)
ReplyDeleteThis was just the best.
ReplyDeleteI am churning it now, but the custard was out. of. this. world. good.
You are so right, that burnt/sweet combo is magical.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the ice cream truck! Your ice cream looks fabulous, it looks like the caramel turned out perfect.
