TWD: Low and Luscious Chocolate Cheesecake
For this week's Tuesdays' with Dorie recipe, The Tea Lady of Tea and Scones chose Low and Luscious Chocolate Cheesecake.
I didn't know what to expect since I've never made chocolate cheesecake, or even tried it.
I thought it was good, but I have to admit it wasn't my favorite cheesecake flavor. (The more I make chocolate-based desserts, the more I'm thinking that chocolate doesn't play well as a back-up flavor.) But I'm glad I tried it. I have been curious to know what chocolate cheesecake tastes like. Plus, it's nice to have a chocolate cheesecake recipe up my sleeve in case I run into any choco cheesecake fans in need of a little homemade love.
I got some pretty major cracking on top. D'oh!
Thanks Tea Lady for the interesting pick. Please check out Tea Lady's site if you'd like to see the recipe, or see Dorie Greenspan's book "Baking From my Home to Yours".
still looks delicious! even with the cracks :)
ReplyDeleteWe found that the flavour was much better the next day. Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some crackage. But somehow you got a great slice out of it. I have no idea why mine didn't crack at all. I would for sure use chocolate crust next time. Good, but we'd rather have plain cheesecake with other things on top!
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy New Year to you and yours!
I love a good chocolate cheesecake! :) Did you bake it in a water bath? That usually keeps it from cracking--you probably did, I was just curious :).
ReplyDeleteI like the cracks! Although I thought the cheesecake was tasty, I prefer the traditional type.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI didn't make it as we were on sweet overload, but I did post my pecan pie today.
You just need to cover the top with some good chocolate sauce! No one would be the wiser. :)
ReplyDeleteSo creamy and delish looking! I will help you finish it.. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh cheesecake and cracks...
ReplyDeleteBut, otherwise, your cheesecake sounds delicious :)
Happy New Year!
That's some gnarly cracking! Have you tried cooling it in the oven? That seems to help mine quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteI thought the chocolate flavor was pretty tame, but I think we're just cheesecake purists.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years!
Glad you tried it even tho it wasn't to your taste.
ReplyDeleteThanks for baking with me this week.
aptly-named cake, wouldn't you say? and tell us, what do you think your H-crack stands for? :)
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer plain cheesecake, but this one was pretty good. I think the cracks look sorta cool!
ReplyDeleteA delicious treat! Cheescakes cracks are annoying...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for the new year!
Cheers,
Rosa
The cracks just add character! It looks delicious in spite of them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made chocolate cheesecake before either. Would usually prefer something citrussy to offset the richness of the cake. Your cake looks great. Shame about the crack, but I'm sure a few berries could've hidden it to great effect ;)
ReplyDeleteYou could have given the cheesecake to someone whose name begins with an 'h'. They would have been ecstatic! It sure looks delicious!!
