The Beast is Finished...

Welp, our cake show is over and done, cakes have been judged, ooh'ed and aah'ed over, and taken back home.

(Eeek - only 364 more days to plan and execute next year's cake!)

So anyway, here she is... my big, fat, (OK, more like tall and skinny) pink cake.

I think I was trying to make up for the distinct lack of "pinkness" in my life, what with only having sons and a mostly males in our extended family.

The night before the show the thought occured to me "does anyone actually have a pink wedding cake in real life?" Oh well, too late to turn back now.

No cake of mine is complete without a few 11th hour fingerprints marring the cake-board and/or cake (read with sarcasm.)

Thanks for all of the well wishes as I struggled for creativity. Boy, I was rusty, not only in my skills, but when it came time to get the old creative juices flowing. But, I'm happy with the end result and as always, I'm glad it's over.

I've loaded the pictures I took of all of the other entries into my Webshots album ---> here. Be sure to stop by and enjoy a little "cake porn" as we cake decorators sometimes call it. I was amazed at the sheer variety of cakes.

I'm speechless. Really.

Why don't you have your own shop? Want a partner? :)

That has got to be the most beautiful cake I've ever seen. Amazing. I love pink, and stargazer lilies are my favorite flower, sometimes my husband actually remembers that and I get a beautiful bouquet of them.

Now I'm going to have to figure out an occasion to serve this at and find out if you will deliver...

Thanks so much everyone :)

Megan - I sold cakes for a while, out of the house, and it was sooo much work, and stressful too. I know everyone starting out dreams of having their own shop, but it's a LOT of work.

Happy - yes, those are sugar flowers, gumpaste actually.
